First, Congress issues a resolution condemning the Armenian genocide by the Ottoman Empire, which passes in committee, thereby pissing off our allies the Turks.  President Bush opposes this resolution coming to a full vote, but then he goes and gives the Dalai Lama a medal, thereby pissing off our allies the Chinese.  Who will we piss off next, and why?

The only people left to piss off are the various sub-saharan african nations. And since Bush can't find the Ambassador from Africa to piss off, they're probably safe for the next 15 months.

We don't have bases in China. If they'd let us put bases on the Chinese boundary with something highly Islamic, we'd shoot the Dalai Lama for them.

Does the Dalai Lama control vast oil reserves?

If not, why waste a bullet?

Ok, first off, the core problem with the Turkish issue, is that the law in turkey is that no one can talk about the recycling of armenians, since the core of the officers involved in liberating armenians from their ideological deviationalism were the very 'young turks' who would turn Modern Turkey into a Democratic Black Shirt Culture as opposed to a Religious Fanaticism of the Failed Ottoman Empire, since clearly having dashing young officers in military uniforms is far cooler than merely democracy, or mere secularism, so that part of the Turkish melieu has become again complicated as the Religious Fanatics have oppose the Simple Secularist culture, as they attempt to refactor the Iranian Islamic Revolution, but in turkish, rather than persian, and this with or without the issues revolving around how Wacked are the Wahabbists.

As such the president opposes any chances to the status quo ante.

While in regards to Dali Lama, it is merely the fact that the Prez is soooo turned on by The American Giggalo, who is now a friend of the Dali Lama, and hence, well, you know, they must be having one of those Jeff Gannon Things, since, well, of course neither of them are taking any steps to deny it, nor are they trying to avoid the clear and compellingly obvious meaning of what can be the most exciting of all times as a nation is rescued from the threat of TheChiComRedMenace and restored to a feudal religious order.

As such the president opposes any chances to the status quo ante.

The problem with the Radical Left Wing extremists in congress is that they do not have any respect for traditional family values.

Now that the American Dollar has reached parity with the canadian loone, it will finally be time to liberate them from the growing horror that they have beeen UnAmerican all this long time, and it is clearaly time that they be held accountable for their actions, and given the opporturnity to be freed from communism, and integrated into a Global Economic New World Order!!!

So the next candidate for Liberation, since clearly our Most Glorious Military Victories over both Turkey and China, mandate that we must go on winning or the Terrorists Win, will mean that now more than ever we must Liberate Canada!!! Which will piss off those allies who did not understand that Canada was an oozing sore dripping the canadian maple leaf syrup all over our White Christian America!!!

As such the president opposes any chances to the status quo ante.

HTH.

Ottoman Empire/Genocide

From what I've read, this is an issue that's had similar legislative shenanigans for the last 25 years - often getting close to that resolution vote, but always falling short. TNR had an article a couple of months ago detailing that history, and how some of the very people that were once in favor of passing that resolution are now lobbying on the other side of the fence - Dick Gephardt was the name in particular that I remember.

Is the same thing going to happen with Darfur? Sudan has some similarities - huge birthrate, oil source, somewhat strategically located. Are we going to avoid pissing off the Sudanese also?

Bomb Them Now.

Bomb Them Often.

Bomb Them Near.

Bomb Them Far.

Just Bomb Then.

That'll piss'em off.

Turkey allows us to fly military supplies in and out, mostly to and from Iraq these days. A Turkish No-Fly policy would severely hamper the US military effort in Iraq... and might result in the Pres. being forced to pull out early.

We have no such arrangements with the PRC, and they haven't been entirely helpful in our dealings with the PRNK, Burma, and Sudan. As much I have no use for him and consider this to be only a very small step in the right direction, kudos to GWB for tweaking the PRC's collective noses. A better step, mind you, would be revoking MFN for the PRC until they pull support from Sudan, but hey, little steps, I guess.

Or, it might force the president to bomb Turkey early, even though they're not one of the key oil suppliers to a nation of "pil users".

(Whimsey: How come only "computer geeks" and "drug dealers" call their customers "users"?)

Hehe, US bomb Turkey... thank you for that, I needed the laugh.

('Cos computer geeks and drug dealers get to see people at their self-humiliating worst.)

It's always a good time to ask about Musharraf. In fact, it's way, way past time.

Did Perez nurse at King Abdullah's teat on shafting the USA continuously for 40 years (complete with 36-grit condom), all the while banking literally trillions of petro-dollars?

Maybe Perez learned from pappy Fahd how to piss off the USA, knowing full well we can't do a damn thing about it.

Maybe Perez just ain't no dummy, and sees we've screwed ourselves into playing ball with sleazy, ruthless dictators.

Or maybe I'm just a cynical evil liberal who's read too many Drieuxusian rants.

Seems that America's the one we really need to piss off, cuz we sure be gettin' pissed on.
