Anyone know what the deal is with the clowns who list "six degrees of deception" as an interest, all have strangely capitalized backdated entries, all have accounts created within the last week, and most of whom have icons that depict a pirate?

Looks like the meme is two (http://community.livejournal.com/blog_sociology/104281.html) or three (http://www.amazon.fr/Degrees-Inner-Turbulence-Dream-Theater/dp/B00005UEAR) years old. No idea if there's anything behind it. My guess is it's a bunch of Discordian types playing with a cute phrase.

I think all the six degrees stuff is like a giant goof on acaDEMONic culture? Then someone came along and perverted it into an ASSault on the lies made in the original Social Contract of Live Journal and then theres the ancillary noise about Identity (http://lastmanstanding.livejournal.com/1208.html?replyto=8120)
