tnr series on darfur
Jul. 26th, 2005 03:19 pmThe New Republic ran a series of articles last week by Eric Reeves, a Smith College professor, on Darfur.
- Why the genocide started, how it is being carried out, and whether it is getting worse.
- What motivates the Sudanese government, and whether we should call Darfur a genocide.
- Why the genocide is not abating — and may, in fact, be getting worse.
- The feckless international response.
- The case for NATO intervention.

speaking of tnr.com
Jul. 26th, 2005 03:46 pmTurns out that one-track-mind Raghubir Goyal has been around at least as far back as the Clinton years, and Clinton's press people leaned on Goyal to bail them out as much as the Bushies. Has there ever been a White House reporter that so insistently trots out his agenda for so long? I find it all rather intriguing.

please say hello to hannibal tabu
Jul. 26th, 2005 09:54 pmSome of you may have noticed the anonymous "Hannibal/HT Sez..." comments that have popped up recently on my journal. Hannibal Tabu was my and my brother's roommate in USC for a semester, near the end of my craptacular attendance there. He is a man of wit, letters and words, with a commanding voice, radiating presence, and economy of motion. You may find his daily work at his MySpace weblog (or follow the link on my sidebar), which i will syndicate as soon as those no-talent ass-clowns discover the magic of RSS.
