One of the A Miracle of Science guys recommended No Rest for the Wicked. It's very good.

[livejournal.com profile] palecur mentioned A Miracle of Science the other day. The premise (mad scientists are actually the victims of a disease and as such need to be arrested by the police in order to receive treatment before they, well, take over the world) is interesting enough, but the story that sprouts from there is excellent. I recommend this highly.

While playing Star Wars RPG at John's the other night, i was introduced to The Order of the Stick, a heavily D&D-based comic strip. It's funny, the characters have depth, and the overall arc is an entertaining story. Not recommended for the D&D-impaired.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dagbrown for pointing me at this Rolling Stone interview with G. B. Trudeau.  It's a shame he doesn't do interviews more often, because he does them so well.  The bottom of the page says it's only an excerpt, so i must remember to purchase the issue to get the whole interview.

Thanks to J. D. Baldwin in The Other Place, i've spent my morning chuckling and sometimes laughing at You Damn Kid.  The Good Friday strip is especially good.

comics poll

The San Jose Mercury News had a poll in yesterday's paper, asking voters to cross out no more than six comics and circle no more than six comics. My choices:

Keep `em

Kill `em

  • Cathy
  • Dennis the Menace
  • Fusco Brothers
  • Garfield
  • Mallard Fillmore
  • Rose is Rose

I'm also gonna drop a note with my ballot asking them to pick up Get Fuzzy and Ballard Street. I didn't vote for obvious stuff, like Foxtrot or Dilbert, because i wanted to see if Pretzel Logic is picked up on an everyday, rather than everyotherday, basis. And, yes, Family Circus just couldn't sneak into my bottom 6 comic strips. That's just the way it goes sometimes.

Also, i must sadly note that Opus, so far, sucks.

Fleep is a comic strip about a guy who goes into a phone booth, passes out, and awakens to find himself trapped. Math and MacGyveresque things ensue. Check it out. Thanks go to Dan Shahin at Hijinx Comics.

Hmm. Supposedly, Berke Breathed will have a new strip featuring Opus out soon. I wonder how reliable this report is, and if so, how much the new strip will suck. Breathed must've run out of money for powerboating...
