pobig introduced me to Grow, a deceptively simple little game. I finally figured out the 'solution' that leads you to maximize every item's level, but getting things 'wrong' can lead to different, cool effects. And, just to prove i'm not lyin':

WARNING: Addictive like crack, although probably not as bad as that damned penguin-smacking game

Argh. Even with taking detailed notes, an hour of playing with it wasn't enough for me to max everything out. I was able to get all-but-two pretty fast, but I'm stumped from there.
