Date: 2008-05-24 01:07 am (UTC)If I'm feeling conspiratorial, I admire SUP's plot to put someone risible on the board, diminishing its credibility no end. "You can't expect us to take those advisors seriously; look at him." But really it's just the usual failure to think through social consequences.

Date: 2008-05-24 11:41 am (UTC)And I keep up by virtue of some of them being relatively inactive, and many of them being skimmable - picture posts, news posts, or simply updates of a kind I really don't care about from that person[1]. I'll generally get about 300 posts on a weekday, and that takes me maybe an hour to skim them all, open the ones that look interesting, and read them. I generally do this in my spare time over the course of the day.
And if I have more time, I read in more detail. When I have less time, I only pursue the really interesting ones in depth.
[1]: Personal updates from strangers who post nice pictures, MMORPG updates from people I read for humour posts, etc.
