Throughout my 5+ years of living with Kim, her kids have shown a remarkable inability to replace the empty toilet paper roll with a new one. They will either pull out a new roll and leave it on the tank, or (less often) put the new roll on top of the empty roll. In either case, the empty roll will sit on the holder, gently mocking me.

I love these kids, but, goddamn, they're useless sometimes.

I'm afraid that this is a common problem. Though you may not know it, it runs even in your family. I used to try regular interventions with [livejournal.com profile] palecur from medical probes to thumbscrews to the good old fashioned whine. Eventually, he learned. Now I have to deal with him putting the new roll on backwards. This is worse. At least changing the used roll for a new roll gave me a sense of accomplishment, of creation even. Removing a new roll only to turn it around and put it back is like fixing the same bicycle tire over and over: easily enough done, but hardly enthralling.
