We've launched quercus.caucho.com as a separate website dedicated to Quercus, Caucho Technology's 100% Java implementation of PHP.

My god, man, this must be stopped!

I could quite happily have lived without knowing about that -- you're a bad, bad man! *shudders*

Oy. On the other hand, if anyone can make something useful out of that concept, Caucho would be the folks. Resin is an amazingly ass-kicking product.

Contrast with the Zend folks' stunning command of the C language and standard library (http://www.netbsd.org/cgi-bin/query-pr-single.pl?number=34632).

Gaah.

It does, I admit, lead one to contemplate the amusingness of the query, "What part of 'undefined' don't you understand?"

That...explains a lot, really.

Quieres gaucho? I don't understand your freaky moon language.

Even looking at their web site, I can't see a good reason why anyone would want to do that.

Did they replicate the security holes too?

"Quercus" is Latin for "WTF", right?

Two great tastes that go great together.

Perhaps it's an experiment to see if they can make PHP slower than Java?

This is actually a good thing. You see, PHP is like highschoolers having sex: they're going to do it anyway, no matter how you try to prevent it, so they might as well be able to use protection. And say what you will about Java, but it at least attempts to be a safe language.

You have an interesting outlook on what the word "safe" means.

Gosh, I have always worried about PHP, but can we now move on and Implement Perl in Python?

You know, important things...

Someone needs to tell [livejournal.com profile] paracelsvs that PerlHP (http://wakaba.c3.cx/perlhp/) is no longer the most absurd language implementation ever.

Yeah um.

Still not putting any Java crap on my servers, I don't care. Have dealt with that shit enough, do not have time for Java morons who can't solve problems.

Adding a new class of moron to the mix does not make it better.

For an encore you'll reimplement Windows in COBOL?

Actually, I suppose the GNOME project already did. You could probably still get in on the ground floor of redoing it in Perl, though.
