It actually looked a lot worse than it felt.

If i recall correctly, this was from the game where i got checked into the boards head first and the ref made no call; i guessed that my elbow hit the boards, too.  The tip of the elbow hurt like hell if i rested it on anything, but the rest of the bruise felt fine.

Nice one. I used to get that kind of effect every time I played in goal at indoor football, particularly on my right elbow. Often it looked quite a bit worse, although it was rarely more than mildly uncomfortable (in the early days; after a while things deteriorated, and it became clear that I was Doing Damage). Eventually, I got myself a set of elbow pads, but the tricky bit was finding a set of "soft" pads, as opposed to rigid things designed for skateboarders and the like...

The only joint i habitually bruised was my left knee, and i definitely got a cushioned pad for that once i figured it out. I also got padded shorts because i kept getting rug burn on my left thigh, but they didn't help as much as i'd hoped.

Dude, that looks AWFUL. Like you were roasting it for an hour or so over medium heat. It doesn't look like a bruise at all. Yuk!
