Eight years ago, i wrecked my feet by wearing rented shoes, had my surname mangled in front of dozens of people, and participated in a sacrament in which i've had no spiritual investment since i was 13.  At least it didn't rain.

Ahh, who am i kidding... i'm a total romantic.  But my wife does this much better than i do.

More congrats! Are you putting a small dent in the wine collection tonight?

As a winey aside, I picked up half a dozen bottles of Les Perdrigolles 2002 Crozes-Hermitage this evening. Bought one to try a couple of weeks ago, opened it at the weekend, and liked it enough to get a bunch to put down for a couple of years (and it still has enough acid to justify further ageing). It's 100% Syrah, which my suspect memory tells me is unusual for a Crozes-Hermitage.

Well, i looked it up, and syrah is the only red grape in C-H, but they'll throw in a bit of marsanne and rousanne. I don't know how common it is to leave the white grapes out.

Interesting, and it may help explain why this C-H seemed a bit more full-bodied than a lot of that ilk (even this one wasn't exactly heavy).
