Kellogg's wheat puffs cereal has gone from being named Sugar Smacks, to Honey Smacks sometime in the mid `80s, to just Smacks, and now back to Honey Smacks. But they're still crackalicious. Mmmmmmmm.

There's an open WAP somewhere near the San Francisco CalTrain station.

The unstoppable expansion of Starbucks has been a problem for longer than you think.

Let's take Rob Gordon's Top 5 First Songs on the First Side of an Album, in no particular order, among the music i own:

  • "The Act We Act", off Sugar's Copper Blue. The growling guitar immediately engages your attention, and when the drums come in, the song envelops you.
  • "The Grudge", off Tool's Lateralus. Like Opiate and Undertow, the first track starts off with a few seconds of background noise, which lulls the listener into letting his aural guard down. I've already extolled this song. There's not much more i could add to it now.
  • "Debaser", off the Pixies' Doolittle. Charles Thompson watches Buñuel, goes a little crazy. Hey, i hear it's not that uncommon.
  • "One Of These Days", off Pink Floyd's Meddle. Mood, mood, mood. The sensation that someone or something is coming up behind you. A threat is made; a chase ensues.
  • "Buried In Your Black Heart", off the Burden Brothers' Buried In Your Black Heart. An irresistible, all-out romp in 5/4 about irresistibility.

If i had to rank them, from 5 to 1: "Heart", "Debaser", "Days", "Grudge", "Act".

Q: How many Bush administration officials does it take to change a light bulb?

A: None.  There's nothing wrong with that light bulb.  There is no need to change anything.  We made the right decision and nothing has happened to change our minds.  People who criticize this light bulb now, just because it doesn't work anymore, supported us when we first screwed it in, and when these flip-floppers insist on saying that it is burned out, they are merely giving aid and encouragement to the Forces of Darkness.
