Last Thursday, Centavo lost 9-2 to Verity One in the last game of Session 64. We had no subs and VO had enough subs to field another team. Nonetheless, we played a good game, even if we got tired. Next session starts up a week after tomorrow. In the meantime, Kimmy and i will be heading out to Paso Robles tomorrow for wine, and we'll be spending a couple of nights camping at San Simeon State Park.
Tonight, Kim and i went to Nonno's in Redwood Estates, where arian1 has been helping out, for a winemaker's dinner. Tonight's featured winery was Cinnabar, and we tasted a couple of very nice chardonnays, as well as a pinot noir (nice, and improved more as it opened up), a merlot (cryptic but tasty), their Mercury Rising Bourdeaux-style blend (a good, steady product), and their cabernet sauvignon (too young). As for dinner, the avocado salad and prime rib were very tasty, and the dessert was some funky frozen blackberry torte thing, which was accompanied by a `97 port (which name escapes me). On the way out, as we talked with Ralph, Nonno's (Nonno's's?) owner, i mentioned greatly enjoying Wild Horse's négrette, so he pointed me to a négrette he carries, by DeRose. The price was good, so i picked up a bottle.
