Soon after going to lunch with our whole team and all the DBAs to say goodbye to the departing DBA manager (to which i contributed a bottle of Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo 2003 Carménère), my boss's resignation was announced by his boss. We had a little meeting where o-boss (who is in Newton, MA) told us that the DMC manager volunteered to be our interim manager for two weeks... so far, i'm not surprised, and going by the stony silence in the conference room, neither is anyone else.

Later, we go out for beers, and my boss tells me that DCM manager was less than thrilled at being volunteered into being our interim manager; he said that DCM manager was afraid that we would hate him. Well, i guess he's smarter than i gave him credit. I asked my boss a few questions about how i should address my e-mail announcing my intentions to o-boss, then, after i finished my beer, i walked to the train station, took advantage of the open WAP, fired up the VPN and e-mailed o-boss.

Oh, i neglected to mention that o-boss went on paternity leave this morning. THE UNIVERSE MOCKS ME. Anyhow, i expect that o-boss will set up a phone call sometime next week. Until then, i shall chew my nails to the knuckles.
