I couldn't say why, but i find it a little disturbing to watch a soccer match and listen to the fans chanting to the tune of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army".

It's not like they're making it worse. Average the rhythmic consistency of a crowd, and that's about what she's got on the recording. (meow, hiss)

Along the lines of "Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot," we could make a bumper sticker for her that says, "Somewhere in the US, a middle school band is missing its drummer."

huuuugs!

Is Meg White...
oh god how do I say it?
"special"?

Because she's crummy at the drums and nobody in a music critic sense has pointed this out yet to my knowledge and I'm just wondering if they're all being nice and at the end of a recording section she gets a big hug.

Man... do not get me started about how brutally and senselessly overrated the White Stripes are. I'm trying to work here!

If they were all that, wouldn't they have been featured on "Rock Band"?

The Raconteurs/Saboteurs, however, are pure genius.

So you say, pal.

SSC: I like White Stripes because of Meg White's drumming. It's, like, the ultimate emo/punk: "My life sucks so much I can't even get a real drummer, I have to use my ex-wife. No, not use like that, man, just stfu." Call it a guilty pleasure.

(Actually, if you like folk rock, their brutal cover of "Black Jack Davey" is pretty good.)

I like them for the same reason, or at least something very similar. Thanks for articulating it.

No lie-- Palecur loaned me a CD of theirs, and I returned it saying, "I think some of the melodies and themes are original and interesting... I'd like to hear them when they're more polished on their instruments, y'know, have a few albums under their belt." Palecur responded: "Uhhh, this IS their fourth album." At that point, I decided "Seven Nation Army" was a guilty pleasure and I didn't have to listen to the rest of the band's stuff.

That was my same reaction, although i haven't listened to any albums (nor do i really want to). If Jack White had a real band backing him, the music might be interesting. Then again, nothing i've heard of The Raconteurs has really grabbed me, either, although they do sound like a real band.

Well, nobody seems willing to point out that Jack White isn't much of a guitarist, either. They seem to be a perfect couple.

Before I read the actual post, I read the title to mean a giant robotic Meg *Griffin.* Nobody needs that.

Robotic Merv Griffin!

He was one of the richest guys in Hollywood, so he probably did hire Brisby to make him an immortal robot.

Dude! Seven Nation Army! *bangs head*

I love that band! No, wait. I like "Fell in love with a Girl" and "Seven Nation Army" and "In the Cold, Cold Night" and that's about fucking it.

"All the words are going to bleed from him
And we will all rejoice,
Cause the backing music for that song
Is just so much noise"

Drums. Like Karen Carpenter. Directed by Michel Gondry.
