If you really want to read DAMNATION by faint praise, pick up the FM 3-24, Published not by the GPO as a Military Publication, at reduced rates, for release to the voting population - but on trade paper, reasonable compromise, from the University Of Chicago.... Because NOW, this copy right 2007 document basically points out that unlike the earlier positions of the Pro-War Crowd, most american military command elements knew more about the American Civil War, than the problems of dealing with CounterInsurgency - or their CORE ACTUAL MISSION - but of course, for the History Boys - h/t to halberstam for that abuse of language, there was no need to know about the Modern Era, and the Modern Complications of National Command Level Issues - since, we live in Majik Land, and all we need is more Pixy Dust...

Or is the real tragedy here, that so many americans REALLY do expect that FM 3-24 will become a Made For TV Movie, just like 'saving private jessica' and the rest of the Historical Documents.
