2wanda and i went to Dishdash yesterday to have lunch with the lovely
madmerle and the irrepressible
drieuxster. drieux is entertaining and educational. He also won't shut up. The three normal people had a pleasant conversation during the silent gaps while drieux was swallowing. Three hours later, we managed to escape by distracting him with what i assured him was a small swatch of fabric from Barry Goldwater's favorite suit, in exchange for which
madmerle gave us a bottle of Smoking Loon 2005 Syrah.
That evening, we went to thib_gc's birthday party, and we picked up
sandollar17 so she wouldn't have to walk there in the rain. A fabulous time was had, and much wine was drunk; someone brought a bottle of Ravenswood 1996 Zinfandel, which i thought might be past its prime, but my fears turned out to be unfounded. We donated our bottle of Dunnewood 1997 Charbono Port to the cause.
Kim prepared a feast today for her knitting circle; sandollar17 came, and so did
amywithani and
racerxmachina, and somehow
palecur snuck along, so we played Magic: The Gathering with Type P decks as i looked over my shoulder in case work reared its ugly head. And now, it's time to get to bed.

Date: 2007-04-23 05:16 pm (UTC)I really do little more than work, and analyse the data sets of the news and culture...
I am, technically, a bit more RELAXED!!!! since the november 2006 elections, but there is such a freaking Mess to clean up, and we really need to get past merely the hope that majikally the old 22nd Amendment will turn out the last Great Leader, and give us a New Great Leader!!!
For impolite Double Header, Try mashing Gary Cooper in Ayn Rand's "FountainHead" with the fun filled excitement of Peter O'Toole in "stunt Man"...
There I go again, always charging forward...

Date: 2007-04-24 03:38 pm (UTC)Thank you both for meeting up with us! I had a great time. Let's do it again sometime.
The thing to remember about theDrieux is that if you have something to say, you need to assertively jump in and get your $0.02 in when he takes a breath. Trust me, I know this from many years of experience, and since I tend to be a "polite listener", this took me awhile to learn... A drieux is rarely at a loss for something to say, and it's usually educational and/or entertaining and/or cryptic. I almost ALWAYS interrupt him for clarifications, which he's always happy to give.
Hope you like the Syrah. Given my economic status these days, I'm always on the lookout for good wines at low prices, and the Smoking Loon was a pleasant surprise.
