Mike Vrabel was robbed. Tom Brady had a good enough game, but Vrabel caused a turnover that led to a touchdown, caught a TD pass, and played solid defense all game. Solid D + two-way play == MVP. Honorable mention goes to Troy Brown, who, after leaving the game with a bloody nose, came back and became Tom Brady's target for, it seemed, every damn pass in the first half. And the Panthers played hard... a great Super Bowl any way you slice it.

Shaq berates the refs and indulges in a little on-air profanity. Today, the NBA suspends his ass for one game. Sounds fair, no? Not to his coach, Phil Jackson, who thought the punishment was "rather severe and childish in some ways," and added, "The league is known for its vindictiveness." Mr. Smartypants knows he'll get away with saying such calumnious rot because, if the league punishes him for doing so, they'll prove him right. Being a Lakers fan makes me ill these days. Maybe i'll just take a break from fandom until the Lakers get rid of Kobe and Shaq and Jackson.
