The Lammah picked me up at work and we headed south to pick up [livejournal.com profile] arian1 at home, where the marvelous [livejournal.com profile] 2wanda had some delicious dinner ready for us.  After eating, we drove over the hill, parked, picked up our tickets and went in.

Mary Timony opened; she was, eh, OK.  Some of the songs she played had really interesting bits, but it was just her and her drummer up there and the songs didn't collect any momentum.  A fuller band, or even some electronic doodad to play loops, would've helped.

As the lights turned off in anticipation of Sleater-Kinney's arrival, a loud chirping of birds was played, to set a woodsy feel, i guess.  Then the ladies came out and played.

  • The Fox
  • Wilderness
  • Combat Rock
  • Rollercoaster
  • Modern Girl [they turned up the fuzzy distortion for this one, just like on the album]
  • Jumpers
  • One More Hour
  • What's Mine Is Yours [Janet lay her head on her drums during the guitar solo]
  • Was It a Lie?
  • Everything
  • Steep Air
  • Light Rail Coyote
  • Let's Call It Love
  • Night Light
  • Entertain

    Encore

  • I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight [Janet sang the first verse]
  • Get Up
  • Oh!
Really good show, although i preferred their Fillmore show two years ago where the Bangs were the second opener (they were a LOT of fun).  I missed hearing "Sympathy" this time around, and i would've loved to have heard "Pompeii".  Corin seemed a little tired and her voice couldn't hit the really high bits near the end anymore.  Carrie played a bit with the lyrics in "Entertained", changing the years in the second verse and the respective rhymes.  I came home tired but satisfied.

I was up on the left balcony, where i ended up because it was the only place i could go with a beer in my hand.

[livejournal.com profile] rubyfusion figured out what song it was (http://www.livejournal.com/community/sleater_kinney/93881.html?thread=662457).
