Now with scores, as per [livejournal.com profile] venividi's request.

Korea 2 - Togo 1: Togo played the most fundamentally sound game of any African team this Cup, maybe in any Cup, but the sending off of Abalo really hurt them.  All the goals in this game were top quality.

France 0 - Switzerland 0: Didn't see it.  I was told that it was an odd clash of styles, the fast French versus the deliberate Swiss.  The video highlights on Yahoo! showed many close chances for both teams, and one controversial play where a Thierry Henry strike struck a defender's wrist in the box; the ref deemed the contact purely incidental and did not call a penalty kick.

Brazil 1 - Croatia 0: A lot of people think that Brazil didn't play well, but i think they're expecting too much from Brazil and are forgetting that Croatia isn't exactly a pushover.  Ronaldo was a zero and he was brutally whistled by the crowd when he was substituted.  Ronaldinho is a wizard with incredible balance and control.

The early mornings are starting to wear me down, even though i'm not necessarily getting less sleep than i normally do.  I hope to catch at least one game for each team; so far i'm missing Germany, Costa Rica, US, Czechia, France, and Switzerland, and  i'll probably miss the Tunisia-Saudi Arabia game tomorrow.

I don't know which timezone you're in but we're +9.5 GMT and even the early matches are keeping me up until 12:30am. The lates start at 4am.

Fortunately, one of my supervisors is on leave and the other is so busy that he delays any meetings that we call. I have hope that my giant panda eyes have diminished by then!

I'm barracking for Australia but, hell, if they can make it through to the next round I'll be happy. Given how well Croatia is playing I'm not that hopeful... I watched the Brazil v Croatia match and was very impressed with the general form. Australia is in for some tough matches.

+2 RULEZ MAN!!!!

Seriously, Brazil game was over at like, midnight.

As far as the whole deal with Brazil goes - I was watching and just going 'completely. different. game.' I mean, they had defenders OTHER than the goalie the entire time. Compared with Sweden? Please.

And yes others are saying they didn't play well either, but no, Croatia is NOT a pushover. Sweden will be.
