Most of you can't see this, because it's behind ESPN's INsider subscription service, but Chris Sheridan publicly thanked me for sending him my mom's sore throat remedy:

Many thanks to all who e-mailed laryngitis remedies after my last blog entry, especially to Ron Echeverri in San Jose, Calif., whose microwaved lime, honey and water method actually provided temporary relief.

I didn't say anything about water, though.  Ah well.  The remedy follows: take a small amount of honey, nuke it until it's very hot, squeeze half a lime into it, and sip a teaspoonful at a time.  It must be as hot as you can stand it, and you must sip.

ah, i used lemon for this back in the day. when i was going to be performing, i'd carry around a bottle of full-strength lemon juice cut with honey. works like a charm.
