[livejournal.com profile] venividi pointed me towards this bit of information regarding yesterday's DDoS against LJ.  Needless to say, my contempt for Blue Security has reached a level reserved for people like Colin Powell and John McCain.

I interviewed at Six Apart today, but i signed an NDA, so anything i overheard or discussed today regarding the outage is not something i can repeat here.  The interview, however, went well, despite the lack of sleep of my interviewers (one of whom was [livejournal.com profile] lisa, if i may namedrop).  Sleep well tonight, guys!

In some ways, I hope you don't get the job. My dislike for LJ's post-move shenanigans has been stated before.

However, if you do land the job there, you can help them get their heads back in order.

And yeah I'd be subscribing again if you did in support. Tho I'd prolly only sign up for 3 months just in case your ex-boss moves there too (:

What kind of post-move shenanigans? I must've missed it.

I wouldn't be doing support, i'd be doing second-tier sysadmin work.

Probably just me, but everything they do post-move, from not being able to work their email to support agents who post insulting comments like "We know you think the site is down. Did you try to refresh your browser?" and then disallow comments... it just seems to me that post-purchase, post-move, the team that was working together to make a successful web-based journal community is now being forced into the myspace mold, and it's not a good fit.

Mainly, though, it's the folks who would be below you, and above you, who would be the ones I'm having issues with.

So I really don't want you to get the job, as I can't imagine it would be any better than working at a telco. And I fought those battles, and I won several, and I'm still insane. But I started insane... not sure you need the stinging armor of insanity's penalty throws...

Well... your experience is certainly unique. Seriously, though, your anti-LJ and anti-Wikipedia sentiments makes your crank levels far exceed mine. That's impressive.

All i can tell you is that i didn't get that impression even in the slightest sense while i was there interviewing.
