Yeah, but that's a systems analyst, more programming type stuff. I'm more of a hardware and OS monkey.

Typical company insanity. Or maybe they just didn't like the shifty looks you were giving them.

No way, you keep your friends close and your enemies closer. These guys do not have the ballz to employ their eventual D3STRUCT0R.....

protractors...

Know any? !@#$%^&*

My company's always on the lookout for fresh meat...er, blood...but we're up in sunny Brisbane, and you're a south bayesian...though that doesn't stop half of my team from commuting for San Jose...

if it makes you feel better, they'll just send all the jobs to india in a year or two like they've done with the ones in seattle.

The job you requested cannot be found.

Either they had a sudden attack of "We Can't Give That Bastard A Referral Bonus", or I'm coming from an IP address that's not allowed to take jobs from patriotic Americans.

That happened to my wife, too, and i tried it now and it also gave me broken. I reloaded and it came up. Try it again.

It's giving that message but still including the described gig in a list of results a bit further down.

Oh well, it's in San Jose and wants 7-10 years. Wrong country and 18 years Unix probably dequalify me. Current gig is still OK anyway.

. . . who will work for less than you would. My pal Steve is a software developer who's been in several interview situations where the choice was between him and someone ten years younger who'll take $20K less per year. He's lost more than a couple of jobs to the kid even though he's vastly more experienced and skillful. I've encountered it myself interviewing for lousy secretarial jobs. And I thought age discrimination wasn't supposed to happen until we were all 50. Of course it's all "penny wise, pound foolish" on the part of the employer -- that sort of sounds like sour grapes, but I think you can at least rest happy knowing that they're making their work harder for themselves by choosing this course of action.
