Date: 2005-11-30 07:22 am (UTC)A radio station in Chicago (RIP, sadly) that played actual rock (not just nu-metal, tho nu-metal was just starting then) had a fellow who was a DJ but mostly just a creative NUT named 'Ned Spindle.'
Hmm, must google...
Anyway. Ned did commercials for them. At one point they had a contest which involved getting tickets to something. I forget what, but it was big. One of the non-Lollapalooza rock gigs in Chicago I think. Anyway Ned made a character for this who was a combination of Conan the Barbarian and Banjo the Clown, and he was the guy who told us about what had to be done to get to the concert. He had the whole Schwarzenegger accent to an extreme. He would always approach someone, ask a question about rockfest (I think that was what it was) and then:
PREPARE TO DO BATTLE!
followed by smashing noises.
So one day:
[extreme guitar noodling]
WHAAT ARE YOU DOOOING?
- I am playing my guitar.
WHY YOU ARE DOOOING THAT?
- I am Yngve Malmsteen.
PREPARE TO DO BATTLE YNGVE MALMSTEEN!
Which is the GREATEST QUOTE EV
AH
EV
AH!!!!
Anyway. Conversations we've had at work while listening to various rock (coworker is good friends/produced some Hanoi Rocks stuff, so, ya know, good guy to have conversations about rock with) have concerned how if he'd just not been so full of himself... but, that woudln't be Yngve, would it (:
Anyway, is this real or did you make it up? Cuz, I hate reality shows, and, yeah, I'd want to watch that one.

Date: 2005-11-30 04:33 pm (UTC)I didn't know it was a joke either.
Date: 2005-11-30 06:02 pm (UTC)Many say that reality tv is "dying," but the truth is, it will always be with us. It may be "declining," where there are fewer reality shows on tv, but classics like MTV Real World show no signs of extinction. Now I really feel old, calling the Real World a "classic."

Date: 2005-11-30 01:37 pm (UTC)Totally off topic and less than 80 percent rhetorical question
Date: 2005-11-30 05:52 pm (UTC)As far as I know "a brace of" something means two. As in a brace of quail (one quail being too tiny to make a full serving).
Does "the full brace of" mean "two, and definitely no fewer than two"? Or something else?
