It was more or less a Ferris Bueller knock-off, only somehow it turned out to be SUPERIOR to the authentic Ferris Bueller sitcom that premiered on another network the same season.
Probably because this was back when Fox wasn't afraid to try new things, being that they were a very young network at the time and therefore EVERYTHING they tried was new.
I took a little walk around the Internet, and I do recall the bottomless trenchcoat. But I was only 8 or 9 years old when the show began. And I fear some of my memories may be mixed up with that of Nickelodeon shows with jr. high/high school settings that were on TV at around the same time.
