Today, Centavo defeated Guinness 14-5. Each team only had one sub — actually, we had two, but the ref disallowed him play because he didn't like some of our jerseys, which numbers had fallen off, leaving only glue to show our number; perfectly visible, but apparently the jerkoffs at Off The Wall Soccer were being ultra-anal, and if the ref doesn't enforce the rules strictly, he gets dinged for it. OTWS, suck my balls.

Anyway, we got off to a quick start, putting Guinness in a 6-1 hole (the lone goal being my fault due to an egregious, heinous giveaway — as a Latinophone soccer announcer would say, "error craso y garrafal por parte del arquero"). They fought back to 7-5, but then we pulled away again. One of the new guys is a great finisher; unfortunately, he won't be back next session because he'll be heading to Greece for grad school. One of the Guinness players was my teammate back with BRECIS (yep, the guy with the dislocated arm), so we caught up a bit before the game. They didn't have a real goalie, so they had two guys pretend to be the goalie, one in each half. This was a definite contributor to the final score.

I bought a Powerade Option to drink during the game, noting later that it had sucralose in it. I start drinking it and it tastes like it has aspartame in it... fuckin' nasty. Close but not exactly: it contains acesulfame potassium. I don't know if sucralose has the same awful metallic aftertaste that saccharin, aspartame, and acesulfame potassium share, but i'm not really eager to find out. There really should be a law that bans artificial sweeteners as crimes against humanity.

"But isn't Thursday your regular soccer day?" you ask. And you are correct, it is, but OTWS schedules games on Friday on occasion. It was a good thing, because it allowed me to go to GoKart Racer with a bunch of my coworkers yesterday. 15 of 22 qualified for the final race, and i finished 5th. Not bad for a first time. I ended up with a bit of friction rash on the corner of the heel and the blade of my right hand from steering. A lot of fun, but probably too expensive to enjoy on my own dime.
