things that secretly delight me
Aug. 13th, 2005 10:54 amI picked up saying "No worries" in lieu of "You're welcome" in work-based contexts thanks to Simon Travaglia (one of my Aussie coworkers even asked me if i was from Oz). Nowadays, about half of my co-sysadmins say it, too.

Date: 2005-08-13 09:25 pm (UTC)Also, thanks to Bittorrent, a while ago, I watched the entirely of an Aussie reality show called "My Restaurant Rules," in which I learned that it's a standard greeting, at least among people my age in Melbourne and Adelaide, to ask people "How are you going?" instead of either "How are you doing" or "How is it going?" (Contractions welcome.) Brr, it's so awkward to my ear. Even in an aussie accent. Let's hope that one doesn't get imported.
It was a good show, though, and might make a better import, perhaps on an appropriate cable channel, than "The Block," which became "The Complex: Malibu."
