As i just now return from Rasputin with a 500-CD pine rack, i realize that i've developed a weird habit for rushing off to a store just before they close.  Today this failed me when i found out that the reverse-osmosis joint where i get our bottled water has started closing at 17:00 on Saturdays, instead of 18:00.  This is separate from my unfortunate penchant for being late, but it seems to go hand-in-hand with my well-developed procrastination skills.  In any case, it seems to be a cheap thrill, in the same category as beating out a yellow light.

Heh. I bought new glasses today, and arrived at the opticians (to pick frames, and negotiate other details) about 10 minutes before they closed.

I hope your CD rack stores CDs so they are kept vertically (like books), not face-up/face-down.

They do indeed. What's wrong with flat vs. vertical?

I can't find the original press release/research thing that went around a year or two ago, but there's this (http://www.postgazette.com/pg/04127/311683.stm):

For maximum longevity, discs should be stored vertically and only be handled by the edges. Don't stick labels on them, and in the case of write-once CDs, don't write on them with anything but soft water-based or alcohol-based markers.

When I start doing this it usually means that it's something I'm slightly anxious about doing, and getting to it very late provides a good chance that I'll have an excuse to put it off until tomorrow. It's particularly likely behavior when there's a considerable backlog of things for me to do, and tackling the list means confronting my shame at not having done them already.

Arrgh. The Big Guy used to try to drag me into places 15 min before closes.

But I got the Big Anxiety about it, so I think I cured him of it.

So I guess I won't be shopping with YOU.
