Kim and i just came back from dinner at Sushi Masa, where i held the door open for a guy and his little girl.  He looked awfully familiar, and as he was about to leave after eating, i asked him, "Has anyone told you you look like Owen Nolan?"  And he replied, "That's me."  Turns out that he stayed here even though he was traded to Toronto.  He looked a little thick around the gut, but maybe that's what a year off does to an athlete.  His little girl was quite a cutie and she blew kisses to the sushi chefs as Daddy took her away.

The sushi was superb, as always; one of the chefs suggested we try lotus root, asparagus, and shrimp tempura, so we did and it was delicious.  I got fatty yellowtail (which they call "hamachi toro", but other places call "hamachi hara" or "buri toro") and it was soooo good.  Sushi Masa is the best sushi in the South Bay.  Eat there now.

I just ATE! Now I gotta eat AGAIN? Geez.

And June made me the best ume shiso hand roll I've ever had. I asked him to make it with no wasabi, and extra ume. He added a little dried slivered bonito to the roll. The flavor really worked well with the ume and shiso. Yummy stuff!

Is the Sushi Masa you went to the one on San Antonio in Mtn View? Or another one? We're sushi-nuts too, and we like the one we know, but would happily explore...
