It's a shame that Dr. Loren Williams (http://web.chemistry.gatech.edu/~williams/) of Georgia Tech, to whom reDiscovery's domain is registered, doesn't seem to have any publications about it beyond the Web site itself. Those would no doubt be entertaining. It's also a shame that the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary (http://www.faithseminary.edu/) doesn't link to reDiscovery even though they share a postal address with it. Nor does the Discovery Instutite (http://www.discovery.org/), which shares reDiscovery's phone number. Why can't these people be better organized about their affiliations? All the minions of Satan are in constant contact with each other, so Christians ought to be, too.

Okay, I swear I had no idea that people on my side of the political spectrum, commonly accused of anti-intellectualism, considered that a compliment.

I mean, it's one thing to be opposed to those tenured ivory-tower types who have no incentive to change their mind if/when they encounter criticism to their pronouncements, especially, when, well, let's face it, the loudest of them tend to be snobbish commies.

But, well, I thought it was a joke page. Who the hell favors active anti-intellectualism, and if they do, just what the hell do they think of when someone says "intellectual?" What broke, exactly? Did a bunch of loutish professors give intellectuals a bad name, or am I really in the same party as knuckle-draggers like the above? I like that even profound disagreement can exist within the big-tent party, even if I disagree with a ringleaders on some major principles. But jeez, these guys should form a pea-brain party if that's the way they're going to be.

Well, sorry, I still can't vote for your guy. But my guy should give these people a stern talking-to.

I'm fairly certain that site is not serious. But with the GOP loudly denouncing "elitism" for decades, and the Bush Administration's treatment of scientists and science, "anti-intellectualism" is all but named.

Are you really in the same party as knuckle-draggers? If you haven't noticed yet... well, i don't know there's anything i can do to point them out. Perhaps their suit cuffs are frayed?

Phew. Well, I'll take a look at more than the front page, next time.

Also, to answer your question, we're not the party of knuckle-draggers, but we have a liberal admission policy. Mostly we just check their hands when they're ordering drinks or groping the help.

... or groping the help.

That explains Schwarzenegger. OH ZING!

Also, "liberal admission policy" LOL.

Gah, it's a joke site, people. Some of the subsidiary pages have the driest humor I've read all year. #8 of the 10 Questions is so dead perfect, it's like the essence of every argument with a well-read crackpot concentrated into a perfect jewel.

I enjoyed their periodic table.

Honestly, it's usually best to assume a site's a joke and then let it prove to you that it's serious, like CAP Alert. Actually, the early version of the Landover Baptist site really tested my humor detection skills; these days, it's a lot more obvious.

Well, it's because of Landover Baptist that such sites are a lot more obvious these days.

It took me ages and ages, though, to figure out that CAP Alert was actually real. Now that gives me the willies.

I have to say that it took me a little time to work it out, because I was expecting to laugh at it rather than with it, but yes, definitely agreed. It is pretty close to perfect. :-)

It's not actually all that funny, but I still can't stop giggling at "IUPAC supports the use of Arabic (Muslim) Numerals" on this page: http://www.re-discovery.org/get_us_out.html
