Turns out he was born in Morocco from Spanish parents, according to IMDb, and his real name is Don Juan Moreno y Jederique Jiménez.  Now that is a fine Spanish name, although not as long as Pablo Picasso's full name.

Nobody seems to use "A y B" in South America anymore, so it's probably mainly a Spanish affectation these days (or perhaps not even these days).
