soccer report two-fer

On the Thursday before last, we handily defeated Netversant Blast 9-1; although it was tight in the first half, they wore down late and we took advantage.

Last Friday, we beat Crystal Pirates 10-7 in a tense, tight, but fun game.  They scored and we tied until one point where we scored 4 straight goals in the second half to go up 8-5 (and this one guy of theirs kept camping directly in front of me, so i shoved him out of the way and he whined about it, "don't push me!" "get out of the way!" "fuck off." "fuck you." sorry, charlie, the box is MINE).  Then CP started pushing and my defense lost its concentration, with 8-6 being scored by one guy surrounded but not actually threatened by 3 defenders, and 8-7 scored on a 3-on-me rush.  Fortunately, at that point their goalie decided he wanted to tie the game all by himself, which led to our guys stripping the ball from him twice to score the final goals.  I got a lot of compliments from my guys and our opponents as well... i'm definitely getting a feel for the team's defense.  I just wish they wouldn't leave me alone.

IDGI...if the opposing player was hanging out in front of you, then why wasn't he offside? And why weren't you booked for a deliberate foul? :-)

It's indoor soccer... no offsides (although women and coed divisions have a bozotic offsides-like rule where a team that's up at least five goals may not have 3 or more players past the opponents' yellow line [similar to the blue line in hockey rinks]).

As for why i wasn't called for a foul, well, i didn't shove him hard enough to knock him down. Plus, hell, i'm the goalie. The box is MINE!

Ah, indoor football. If your rules are anything like the ones I learnt in England as a kid then he shouldn't have been inside the box in the first place; automatic offense.
