[livejournal.com profile] dpk_wp hates me.

What if the fetus you were going to abort would grow up to be a soldier bringing democracy to a godless dictatorship?
Speaking of bringing democracy to dictatorships, the president of Ecuador was ousted by Congress due to "dereliction of duty".  Then a warrant for his arrest was issued because of the reprisals he ordered against the protesters.  Naturally, he claimed that "his removal from office by Congress violated the constitution" (ain't that always the fuckin' story with these scumbags), as opposed to his dismissal of the Supreme Court in December and subsequent stacking of crony judges, which was A-OK and on the level, sparky!  In the meantime, we have the OAS and Condi Rice blabbering about making sure that things return to stability... yeah, thanks for nothing, bitches.

I got so sick of the, "What if we abort the next Einstein?" argument that I like to use, "Well, what if your child became a cross dressing ax murderer?"

Not that I have anything against crossdressing but it seems to rub those folks the wrong way. In fact, I think they hate the thought more than the whole ax murdering thing.

Well, sure, because what if your baby axe murderer ends up killing the next Hitler?

I hate you so very much just now. I have been saying "what the fucking fuck" in different tones, with varying degrees of emphasis, for about four minutes now.

WHAT the fucking FUCK??

Am I the only one who sees something wrong with the idea of soldiers bringing democracy to dictatorships? More often, it's the other way round.

As in, soldiers overthrowing existing regimes (whether dictatorships or democracies) in favour of military rule (Pakistan, Chile, you-name-it-in-Africa), or preserving the existing dictatorship by acts of force against civilians (Iraq, Tianamen Square and countless other examples). It certainly seems to happen more often than soldiers overthrowing dictatorships in favour of democracy.

It's a rather crude analogy, but it seems to me that military organisations are designed (of necessity) along the lines of dictatorships. You have people in senior positions whose job it is to plan and give orders, and people below who obey those orders, usually without question. Debate and majority rule are anathema to the army.

It seems a lot of your commentors don't understand that misspoppy.com is a parody site. I'd advise everybody to go up to the main page and have a look around, it should be abundantly clear, even to the irony challenged.

Heh. I do not cater to the irony-impaired. I think everyone understands just fine.
