Via [livejournal.com profile] cjrcampaigndesk, this quote made my head hurt like someone drove an icicle into my frontal lobe:

"Mrs. Schiavo's life is not slipping away -- it is being violently wrenched from her body in an act of medical terrorism."
At this point, Tom DeLay could be caught in bed with Michael Jackson and a young boy, and the GOP would STILL cover his ass.

Anyway, read the whole thing at CJR.  It's all good.

Some have pointed out the hypocracy of all this. As gov. of Texas, Bush signed into law a bill allowing hospitals to terminate with extreme indifference people who they considered both hopeless medically and incapable of paying. http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=6541ef0b623784d4

Funny how Bush says we should always err on the side life, yet he signed like a hundred death warrants during his time as Governor of Texas.

Don't worry, they were ALL indisputably guilty and deserved to die, even the 17-year-olds and the retarded ones.

The winner of the Warm Chocolate-Looking Popsicle prize for "inappropriate use of a catch phase" is [livejournal.com profile] ronebofh for applying "it's all good" to an essay of yet further ineptitude in news coverage and the right-wingers it pleases so.

Hannity had the sock-puppet "Nobel-nominated" doctor on his radio show today, after Santorum was on and shat out his daily contribution.

Doc says "Oh, I examined Terri for ten hours. She can eat and swallow now, she can turn her whole body to try to look out the window, and with some therapy, she can relearn how to talk and will be able to go to restaurants and the movies and enjoy them."

Hannity: "Are they literally trying to murder Terri Schiavo?"
Sockpuppet: (guarded pause) "I really don't need another lawsuit."

I really, really wanted to drive to Hannity's radio studio with a torch and a pitchfork right about then, except that I wouldn't want to sink to that level.

Given it's generally accepted she's "gone" it amazes me he'd be willing to risk his reputation as an MD on such a bold statement, i.e. lie.

*boggle* That's just... Words fail me. Some of these politician bastards make me wish the revolution would get a move on and stick them up against the wall.

Since Schiavo has no brain and has a (probably working) uterus, she's actually a perfect Republican woman.

The concept of "know your enemy." It's marginally easier to deal with people who get their "news" spoonfed from talk-radio sources if you're familiar with what exactly it is they've been spoonfed in a given week.

On a good day, it's actually got humor value; I can drive along and let loose a few Frankenesque "LLLLLLLLLLLIAR!" chants in time with the bullshit on the radio. Bob Grant on WOR is even better for this, as he's (a) not QUITE as 110%-pro-Bush (though he's 120% as racist) as most of the others and (b) gets delightfully agitated when callers aren't drinking the Kool-Aid.

The flip side is that drive-time radio in Philly is simply nonexistent. Music radio in the burbs doesn't exist, as the college radio stations have a range of fifteen feet, and even the sports-talk station has Howard Eskin as their drive-time guy (the swarmiest prick on earth).

Once in a while, Grant will be on vacation and they'll have a guy named Lionel fill in. Lionel is somewhat of an iconoclast and tends to put forth LIBERAL opinions on a regular basis, so it's a rare treat when he gets going. The callers' audible confusion at hearing something different is charming.
