Or, in layman's terms, the so-called "rootkit" found in some of their recent music "CDs" (which i just read somewhere on my friends list that they aren't technically CDs because they're so badly botched that Philips won't let Sony use the term).  Anyway, Bruce Schneier writes about it in Wired.

New readers might want to start from part 1 (at the bottom).

I walked out of the Ashen Tongue with a bit of a bounce in my step.  It felt nice; it should have creeped me out a bit, but it didn't.  I walked around the corner to the stable and found Kohasadi napping.  He perked up when i knelt by him.  I scratched his head and said, "Well, then, what shall we do now?"  By now, he'd learned that i meant this rhetorically and didn't make a noise in response.  I sniffed and shook my head.  "This is dumb.  What i need to do is find a way to understand you."  He squawked and nodded.  I laughed and said, "All right, then.  Tomorrow morning, we'll head to the closest office of the Parks and Gardens District and ask a druid for some help."  I pulled out my bedroll, put out the lantern that hung above the stall, lay down next to him and fell asleep.

The next morning, we had sausage and tea (well, i had tea) before we set out towards the PGD office.  We headed north for a couple of miles until we hit the Park of the Council, the largest park in the city.  In addition to the various botanical gardens, it also had large vegetable plots and fruit orchards throughout the park, as well as greenhouses in the center.  I stopped one of the gardeners and asked, "Where can i find the druid in charge?"

She said, "Master Néfilo is on duty today, and he should be in the main greenhouse."  She turned and pointed to one of the buildings, off to the east side.  I thanked her and she returned to her potting duties.

Once we reached the greenhouse, Kohasadi and i walked through a leather curtain, then through a curtain made of large leaves, and into a wave of hot, humid air.  The light seemed brighter in here, and there were tall trees above and bushes and brush below.

"How the hell are we gonna find him in here?" i grumbled to myself.  Kohasadi heard me, though, and pecked me on the shoulder.  "Oww," i whined.  "What?"

Centavo was brought back down to earth last night by FC OAS by a score of 11-3.  FC OAS thorougly outclassed us, and we didn't do ourselves any favors by leaving gaping holes in the defensive line throughout the first half (which ended 8-1).  They were fit (even with only one sub, they didn't tire at the end of the game), they moved well with the ball and off the ball, and their shooting was very good.  I got to make some good saves, and in general i was happy with my play, but i spent a good amount of time yelling at my teammates to cover defensive gaps and to not let the ballhandler set himself up for a shot.  Also, the game started with a bad omen when i threw my sports drink bottle at the goal and it busted open and spilled most of the contents on the field.  The good news was that we played to our abilities in the second half.

OK, so [livejournal.com profile] matrushkaka isn't really a midget, and it wasn't just my dinner because [livejournal.com profile] 2wanda was there, too.  BUT ANYWAY.

Kim and i drove up to K's on Saturday night and we departed on foot towards Limón.  When we got there, there was a big wait and we didn't feel like gambling on someone missing their reservation.  So i made an executive decision and backtracked us a bit towards Amira.  The ladies shared some eggplant salad thing and the three of us shared a bottle of Amazir Beni M'tir (a Moroccan blend of carignan, cinsaut, and alicante-bouschet; a little spicy, medium-bodied, and perfect with the food) and the Amira's Feast.  The music (oud, dumbek, tambourine) was slow and subdued, until it was time for the bellydancer, Aliena.  She was really good, and she showed a fine control of muscles that i presume i have somewhere on my body and might someday find the time to make an acquaintance.  After our meal was complete, we walked down to Bombay Ice Cream, where Kim had cardamom rose (tasty!), K had masala tea, and i had boring ol' mint chocolate chip.  Then we walked back to K's, where she gifted us a 200 ml bottle of Peller Estates 2002 cabernet franc icewine.  YES.  Thanks, K, for the wine and a good time!
