I've meant to put up these links for you for a long time now:
Support your nearby farmers' market! I have naught else to say, mostly because my brain has been taken over by The Sith Lords.I've meant to put up these links for you for a long time now:

Date: 2005-03-07 10:31 pm (UTC)What's the difference between a farmer's market and a neighborhood produce stand? Is one presumably better than the other?
Advise me, wise ones!
A neighborhood produce stand is in the country
Date: 2005-03-07 11:37 pm (UTC)We have farmers markets in Philadelphia in various places at various times of the year. Some people drive to the farms and buy things.
My guess is that your neighborhood produce stand, if selling produce grown within a 1/2 mile of the stand, is going to roll up and pack the farmer's markets (who supplement what's available locally with whatever in some markets).
I find that apples taste best when they're locally grown and they're even cheaper when I buy by the peck at the roadside stand.
