soccer report twofer
Feb. 8th, 2005 12:57 amLast Monday, in the first game of Session 63, Blasters defeated R.F.A.P 9-6 in a game where we came out strong and went to the break up 5-0. Then R.F.A.P installed a new goalie and came out very hungry... we got whistled on a lot of fouls and they quickly took them, gaining 2 or 3 goals while i was screened. But we hung on for our first victory.
Tonight, Blasters defeated Nutmeg,
7-0.
That's right, my first shutout (and our first three-game winning streak). I got lucky a couple of times, once guessing the timing right on diving to the far post to stop a shot, and another time when i was away from my goal and my defenders coughed up the ball; i threw my body across the attacker just as she let off a soft shot and managed to make it glance off my knee and out. Plus, my defense tried to make things interesting with about a minute to go by completely breaking down and giving them lots of chances. Exciting! But now i have to try to calm down so i can go to sleep... i know, i'll finish off some work, that should quickly make me nod off.

Date: 2005-02-08 07:21 pm (UTC)I never got one, in the forty-some games I spent in goal in high school and grad school, indoor, outdoor, men's and co-rec.
Congratulations.
