Besides, my local bookstores are doing quite well - one of them just annexed the shop next door and filled it with books.

What they should do is set up a "support your local bookstore by using their amazon referral page" so you buy from amazon and your local bookstore gets a cut.

James Surowiecki of "Wisdom of Crowds" talks with Gladwell at Salon. (http://slate.msn.com/id/2111894/entry/2112064/) Reading both books and their exchange makes me want to formulate some grand Unified Theory of Decision Making.

I only I could decide how to go about doing that.
