Today, i found an article on CNN.com, via Reuters, about human lie detectors: people who have an uncanny knack for detecting lies via various of the speaker's physical cues.  It's a fascinating story... except that Malcolm Gladwell wrote an article entitled The Naked Face for The New Yorker over two years ago on the very same subject and in greater depth.

Plus, the Reuters idiot screwed up on Maureen O'Sullivan's employer (she's at USF, not UCSF).

I started reading Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them this morning. From just the little bit that I've read - highly recommended!

Got it for my birthday last year. A very good read.

Not only that....

...A year or more ago, I saw a segment on one of the PBS shows that I watch on the same subject. It emphasized the Secret Service angle a bit more (didn't mention childhood traumas or attorneys, in fact) but also talked about "microexpressions".
