Macromedia wants to hire you.  Send me your résumé.  Actually, if any of our jobs look good to you, send me your résumé and let me know which job it's for.  `Cause i could use the bonus, eh?

Got any openings for "company composer?" How about "company band?" Rally the troops, etc...

shit, I wouldn't mind a tech writing job -- that always came up as the best job for me when I took occupational tests. but there's no way I could prove that I meet any of the requirements. all the tech writing I did got labeled with my supervisor's name.

Are you hiring anybody

to make the left-hand edge of your web pages not fall off the edge of the screen because we don't use an entire 1600-pixel screen to display a single browser window, so we can read what the hell you're talking about?

You must have some weird-ass browser; Firefox and IE seem to cope fine at 800 pixels wide on Win2K.

so I exaggerate

but it does require the ENTIRE 800-pixel screen for the 758-pixel-wide header image, which could easily be split into two tiny corners and one even tinier stretchable middle.

I suppose to some degree this is a browser problem: With the center alignment, Firefox refuses to give me a scroll bar to view the right and left sides of the text. But I still take issue with being forced to read it at a particular width just to accommodate 12 pixels of pretty framing. I often deliberately narrow my window to squeeze text down to a reasonable width so I can read it more quickly with less left-right scanning. I can't do that with pages like this.

correction

Firefox does give me a scroll bar but only lets me go right, not left.

Hmm, how about a rusty unix systems administrator with a thick southern accent and currently a cop? LOL I would take my old job back. Not because I miss cali's culture, but I hate this weather out here. Currently it's 4:20pm, 90F and 80something Humidity, flash flood warnings in effect until 4am. Hire me!!!

Well, GODDAMN.

I'm a tech writer with eight years of experience, but two things stopped me short:

> Location: San Francisco, CA

No.

> Lead a team of writers responsible for supporting the Mobile and Devices business unit.

Not with my lack of people skills and general disorganization.

The Senior Technical Writer job down lower is much more suited for me, except that I've never worked with Flash and only dabbled briefly with Dreamweaver.

For one thing,

> The ideal candidate has a keen interest in the mobile devices industry (including cell phones, WAP, and related technologies) and the ability to keep up with the fast pace of technical innovation in the mobile space.

I don't even OWN a cell phone, nor want one, nor understand why 50%+ of the people who own them want them.

As for Flash and other Macromedia products, it's not that I don't have at least a mild interest, but my primary role in my current department is writing and maintaining paper training workbooks; I'm not even much of a PowerPoint Ranger. There are people in my department who create multimedia training CDs, and I know that they use some Macromedia products, but they've had me too busy doing the paper stuff to be trained beyond the bare basics of that.

Plus, I can't complain about the paycheck where I'm at. Gigs on the west coast would have to be throwing large truckloads of money in my direction to get me to consider uprooting and moving away from my lifelong east coast entrenchment.

I felt the same way about cellphones. Then i got one for work. It's really handy. I still don't understand people who desire to speak on one for more than 3 minutes; it's annoying as hell and the phone gets pretty damn warm.

Bad timing. A friend of mine just started as a contractor in Natick. Sorry.
I do have additional friends, I suppose....

Where were they three years ago when I was desperately trying to find work as a tech writer?

It's too late now; I'm on a different path.

Hey Ronebofh!

Are they still looking? I have a friend who has thirteen years of tech writing experience including six @ Oracle.
