It's time his spirit was properly crushed under the bleak and futile Eternal Champion universe, though I must say this Amber shit really beats it in terms of bleak, futile, fucked-up universes I find it a personal affront that anyone invented. For this Zelazny is idolized? Yeesh. Well-crafted enough, I guess, but gross.
Well, you have to appreciate the genius of a man who created an entire Universe out of a writing exercise ("Your main character wakes up in a hospital bed with a headache and no memory. What happens next?"), wrapped up (sorta) a shaky series, started a new series based tenuously on the old one, brought the thing to a major cliffhanger, and then had the bad grace to die without leaving behind an ending.
The Marquis de Sade could not have created a torture device so insidious.
