Friday: Had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] kerri9494 and [livejournal.com profile] rms2.  They are definitely in the running for CUTEST COUPLE EVAR with me and Kim.  There was much giggling and pre-empting of lines.  Also, dessert and wine.

Saturday: Went to see Innocence with [livejournal.com profile] oh6 and [livejournal.com profile] elmuchacho.  It's a beautiful film, a good story, but it's definitely a bit discombobulating.  The Boy says that examining the manga helps.  I'll have to put that on the list.  After the show, i drove Marc home, as he had a long ride ahead of him, and it was midnight.

Sunday: Ran my D&D game with The Boy, [livejournal.com profile] palecur, [livejournal.com profile] plambert, [livejournal.com profile] dr_strych9 & Gina.  Kim made guacamole and pizza (delish!), and my game ran well enough (good hook, lots of slaughter, iffy pacing).

Holy krap I haven't spent time with Strych8 and Gina in forever. I should get in touch with them.

They seem largely immune to the ravages of time, like giant salt crystals or the mighty horseshoe crab.

The storyline exists in the manga, yes, but it is a short sidestory and the movie version is only remotely related to it.

I do enjoy the manga, though, and it's fun to compare the various different Ghost in the Shell timelines that now exist (the manga, the movies, and the TV series all follow quite different continuities).

And BACON. Don't forget BACON.

I missed the cute little mecha-thingies from the first GITS manga, but i can see how they might not have matched the tone of the movie.

The fuchikomas are in the TV series, although they're now slighty different and called tachikomas. And they're cuter than ever before, and talk excitedly in high-pitched voices.
