Take the paper
(only one side has color)
and fold it into
a galaxy
    a building
        a sock

Paper boats
are paper hats with wide brims
that float on the freshwater ocean
within your head

Wrap yourself
in reams of paper
Paper's fragile, `tis true,
but the words that you write on your armor
carry power, ward off evil spirits,
entertain your enemies
and woo your friends

My paper soul
is now a bird that flaps
    a frog that jumps
        a balloon that pops
            and you fold my soul again and again
                to appease your art
                to avenge your loss
                to make me in your own image

            and all i can do is crinkle

        please don't tear
