Throwing H&W (the organization you have to call, not CPS, because CPS doesn't get involved until H&W asks them to) isn't easy to do, mostly because you wonder if you're doing the right thing. I just reported my best friend's husband to them less than three days ago for drunkeness, spousal abuse, and child endangerment, 'cause my best friend hadn't the guts to divorce the bastard. It's my godson's life at stake here, and I'll be damned if I stand back and wait for his father to kill him or his mother. I'm also suspicious that said drunkard may have been the arson who torch my residence (burned it to the ground) two days before I called H&W...
Three rules I hold with: 1) don't swear in front of or at anyone (especially not children)--using the terms in their true meaning, rather than as swearing, can be appropriate with adults; 2) NEVER willfully threaten another person's life (self-defense doesn't count as willfully); 3) If you can't control your temper/emotions without alcohol, you shouldn't be drinking in the first place and you need to get serious help.
