soccer report
Jun. 25th, 2005 01:55 pmOn Thursday night, in our first game of the season, Centavo held on to a 5-4 victory over NetVersant Blast. The game was a bit rough, with many boarding calls and a few blue cards (none on us, thankfully). I kept getting beat to loose balls somehow, although i only paid for it once, out of sheer luck. After that goal, i got stuck into too-conservative mode and got lucky again (well, part of that is that they weren't very good finishers); one guy shot the ball about an inch from my face and banged it off the top wall, instead of just chipping it over me, which he could've easily done because i was so discombobulated by his approach (sure, i can blame my defense for the breakaway, but i still gotta hold up my end).
This was another game where we started the game a man down, and then got a couple of guys soon thereafter, so we played with only one sub, whereas NVB had a ton of subs. They also have a coach, who praised my performance after our game last session and was even more effusive this time. I think i did a good job controlling the box... just wish i'd been better (or at least faster) on my attempts to stop the loose ball.

Well, right now, this team has won five games and lost four, so technically we've won more than we've lost. But i've definitely not skipped any game reports.
