Last week was a festival of bad bounces. There were three own-goals, two of which were rebounds that bounced off a defender, and the goal that caught me napping was mostly because the rebound off the wall fell right at an attacker's feet, when i was expecting a different carom.
Tonight's game against Jets was a festival of bad rone. Whenever i left the box to try to clear a long ball, i would more often than not whiff it. This led to at least two goals. There was also a long ball that i gauged and went to the edge of the box to pick up; then the ball died after it bounced and the attacker plucked it and shot it past me. If i'd challenged the pass, i could've just kicked it away, but i thought i had a chance to play it. And that reminds me of an earlier event in the game where the attacker i mentioned above was in the box during a free kick; i leaned on him, and he crumpled to the ground. The ref carded me, and then threatened to give me another one when i told luserboy, "Nice dive, dude." Hey, ref, i've shoved guys in the box before, so i know the difference. That pissed me off... at least we didn't give up a goal while we were a man down (we actually scored a shorthander). The good news is that my suckage didn't lose us the game; the bad news is we tied, 5-5. Yeah, there shouldn't've been that many long passes into space, but if i'd cleared half of those whiffs, we would've won.
