First Cheney tells Leahy to go fuck himself.  Now Bush is starting to crack under the pressure, too.

A ponytailed man standing next to us confirmed the event, saying, "I do believe the President of the U.S. just gave you boys the finger."

On Friday, Blasters lost to Ball Monsters, 3-2, in a game that we could've won.  We were up 2-0 most of the game (i assisted on one of the goals! yea me!), and we hit the "post" twice.  The first goal i let in was a shot that snaked its way through two defenders and caught me with my feet set improperly, so i just saw the ball pass by not even a foot in front of me, and i couldn't kick it away.  The second goal was a bit of bad luck... i smacked it away, but not far enough, and their forward won the one-on-one battle with our defender.  The last goal came off a wall bounce that hit my defender and went in, with only a minute to go in the game.  Total cheese.

Then, yesterday i got to see Ecuador play very poorly and lose to Uruguay 2-1, which practically guarantees they won't make it to the next round, even if they were to beat Mexico (who just beat tournament favorite Argentina 1-0) by a bunch of goals.  Feh.

I'd like to thank [livejournal.com profile] mmcirvin for directing me towards Alex Ross and his article about how elitism hurts classical music.  I found one passage positively Frippesque:

The mistake that apostles of the classical have always made is to have joined their love of the past to a dislike of the present. The music has other ideas: it hates the past and wants to escape.
I've said more than once recently that i want to become more familiar with "classical" (symphonic?  orchestral?) music, so i will take Ross's list under consideration and borrow what i can from Renée.  `Cause i gotta, you know, get culcha'ed.
