Two and a half days later, i can't bear the thought of playing another game. Of any sort. Plus, i spent Valentine's Day away from my sweetie. I don't think i want to do that again.

I saw Dan "Crisper Than Thou" Johnson there, as well as [livejournal.com profile] anotherdave (who ran a Heroes game), [livejournal.com profile] purchasemonkey, [livejournal.com profile] angrybuffalo, Gabe Os., Aaron Na., and Dave No. from the old Best Internet crew, and a few folks i met two years ago, including the munificent Toby and Steph from Sparks, NV, who yielded their spot in line so that i could play in Bruce Mattos's game on Saturday. Bruce runs a great D&D 3.5 game, and this one didn't disappoint, at least from his perspective. However, the party's collective IQ was definitely not the best, and we got severely asskicked by a couple of bucketloads of hill giants and one smartass mage. My half-orc bard, Hôlg, perished gruesomely (but i'll resurrect him for future games... i consider him franchised, à la Dread Pirate Roberts). So the net effect was the typical "dumbass party derails cool plot points and frustrates DM" thing. The silver lining was that the game ended a couple of hours early, so i got home that much sooner.

Friday night was spent learning to play Settlers of Catan by sneaking into a tournament with [livejournal.com profile] palecur, while The Boy and Mr. Brendy Pants ([livejournal.com profile] 2wanda's moniker, but it fits so well) wandered off to do something else. I also played Magic for the first time. I'm accumulating nerd points like there's no tomorrow!

Today was spent tooling around without a fixed destination; there weren't any scheduled games i wanted to register for, and none of the pickup games suited me, so The Boy and i played Settlers (i bought a set) and Magic to pass the time. Then i left him behind so he could play other games until tomorrow, i took Paul home, then came home. And now i've put the garbage out, and i'm looking forward to a good night's sleep.
