rone: (horse! pie!)

I went to the espresso bar near work, chatted with the barista in Spanish, and asked for a double mocha. As he was finishing it, he asked me, "¿Quiere que le ponga huipin crim?"

"Do you want me to put huipin crim on it?"

"huipin crim" is a phonetic rendition of "whipping cream". I imagine it's a bit like saying, "I'd like some crème fraîche, please," except French is every language's bitch, which is, i suspect, why they are so insistent on their own lingual purity. After all, imagine the embarrassment and irony if some French anglicism is imported into English as the next trendy bon mot.
