for those just tuning in

I often tend bar at the altar of ha ha only serious. When i pour a good serving, the two-fisted perfection of honesty and irony sit neatly, one atop the other, like a black-and-tan; not only does it look great, but it goes down easy and the flavors mingle in your mouth, yet remain distinct. When i don't... well, like that great American patriot Philip J. Fry will say someday in the future, "Ugh, it's like there's a party in my mouth and everyone's throwing up." Sometimes, some of the things i say are so muddled, i don't know whether i'm serious or kidding or a little of both. It bothers me and it makes me a little sad, and i wonder if i should give it up. But i won't, because i've found that it's the most effective way to tell people the truth, because they laugh, and then they think. It sticks with them when it happens that way.

Good lord, you've found a way to get people to think?

Well, only about stuff like, "Hey, i do like pie."

And do you have something against pie, Mr. Rantypants?

Looks like you uncorked a real shitstorm over on Orkut's Antisocial Networks. Keep up the good work!

Oh, it's all played out. All it's doing is making me pine for the good ol' days of Usenet. These people don't even know how to argue or flame. Maybe i should have a seminar.

Y'know, I find that as I get older I just can't be bothered to take the time and effort to craft a really good flame, and arguing with faceless cretins just drains me of energy that I need to do other things that I find far more enjoyable.

Otoh, I got my first FOAF spam today which got my blood boiling for a microsecond or two.

And I'm thinking of posting an "Orkut -- Now What?" message asking what the hell's supposed to happen next. Right now, all that I can come up with is:

1 Collect underpants, friends, testimonials, fans, and rankings
2 ???
3 Profit!

You can actually turn off FOAF mail in your settings, which is a blessing.

You need to post that "now what" bit. I CHARGE YOU WITH A HOLY QUEST.

I think i'm going to have my orkut account deleted within the next week.
