Consider the site stocktwits dot com (not linked directly to deny them any sort of "Google juice"). Not only would it be a fantastically stupid idea at any given moment, but given the current financial milieu, it exudes an extra special miasma of stupid, aided in no small part by the cleverly stupid domain name which goes past the "so stupid it's clever" hipster irony of cool all the way into the heart of "so clever it's stupid" territory all over again.
Needless to say, neutering the people involved would be a public service.

To me, it's just like a classic flame on Usenet: biased but factual takedowns combined with good ol'-fashioned ad hominems aimed at a target who's been asking for this sort of erudite, yet opportunistic, invective. It is entertaining even if it is light on content.

I fervently wish H. L. Mencken were still alive, so i could see him write something about Reagan or Dubya that were along the lines of his scathing obituary of notable creationist William Jennings Bryan.
Update: wisn brings us not Mencken, but close enough.

I've managed to flame people on LiveJournal, a mailing list, and Usenet today (well, not flames like my classic ones, but compared to my mild rebukes of late, they're flames). I wonder if it's this damned headache or if it's just one of those days.
